One idea to try this month
Setting up a pretend school for your kids is not only a fun way to encourage imaginative play, but also a great learning opportunity for them.
You can also use this idea to play school with your kids and start conversations with them about what they do in school (especially if they are usually reluctant to talk about this after school).

How to set up a pretend school space
To get started, prepare some school supplies on a table and use a few dolls or stuffed animals as students.
Here are some other things you can include when creating a pretend school for your kids:
- a chalkboard or dry erase board (or even an art easel if you have one at home)
- educational posters and class rules poster
- notebook and writing supplies
- books for a reading corner
- pretend report cards for the students
- pretend student IDs, badges, and passes
- planner and stickers for the teacher.
You don’t need all these materials to set up the pretend school. Use what you have at hand and encourage the kids to come up with their own ideas on how to create their pretend classroom.
